Moens Packaging is proud to announce that we have obtained the SDG Pioneer certificate. This demonstrates that we are actively working towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Valipac awards a bonus of €50/ton of recycled material to companies that purchase plastic packaging.

What does this mean?

Valipac awards a bonus of €50/ton of recycled material to companies that purchase plastic packaging that:

Made from at least 30% post-consumer recycled material,
Used to package goods and sell them in Belgium,
The manufacturer/distributor can be found on the portal, and the products are also listed on the portal.,
You are a Valipac customer.

Thanks to this portal, companies can find manufacturers/distributors that sell recycled packaging.

Our customers can receive this bonus when they purchase our products listed on the “My Recycled Content” portal.

Start of food forest construction & donation to VZW Durme

Based on our sales of eco-friendly packaging, we were able to donate to VZW Durme for their project at Molsbroek involving excavation for the little bittern and the otter. We have also been able to contribute to the creation of our own food forest in Grembergen.

Our colleagues have been busy planting various young fruit trees on our site, including cherry, pear, apple, mirabelle plum, and many more. The first steps have now been taken, but further planting of the food forest with various fruit bushes, herbs, and more is still planned.

Expansion of Wet Nature & United Packaging Forest

In the first semester of 2022, Moens Packaging committed to a local project for the development of valuable wetland nature! This has enabled us to help restore the otter's habitat. 🦦

This valuable but also vulnerable wetland nature helps to bridge longer periods of drought on the one hand and acts as a buffer against heavy rainfall on the other. And did you know that wetland nature itself captures more CO2 than forests?

For the second semester of 2022, we have committed ourselves to planting trees and thereby reducing CO2 emissions.

With your help, Moens Packaging has been able to contribute to the purchase and planting of 293 trees and 5000 m² of wetland nature in 2022. To this end, we are working together with United Packaging Forest & VZW Durme.

Moens Packaging has decided to donate an amount to an ecological project dedicated to protecting our natural environment for every €10,000 in sales of ecological packaging. This can vary from planting trees to supporting local initiatives for restoring and optimally designing wetland nature.

In 2021, we threw ourselves wholeheartedly into the United Packaging Forest project. Thanks to sales of 24,61% in eco-friendly packaging, we were able to contribute to the planting of 600 trees. 🌳

PCR or Post-Consumer Recycled HDPE/PP

Plastic afval van de consument wordt opgehaald, gesorteerd, gekuist en verwerkt tot gerecyclede bottles, jerry cans, buckets en bundle -en lid for barrels.

PIR or Post-Industrial Recycled HDPE/PP

Overschotten uit het productieproces van verpakkingen worden verzameld, intern gerecycleerd en verwerkt tot gerecycleerde jerry cans, bottles, … Het voordeel van deze methode (in tegenstelling tot PCR) is dat de chemische structuur van de PIR verpakkingen niet wordt aangetast doordat het een intern recyclage proces is.

RPET or Recycled PET

Plastic afval van de consument wordt opgehaald waarna de PET verpakkingen eruit worden gesorteerd. Deze verpakkingen worden gekuist en verwerkt tot recycled PET bottles. Het is mogelijk om het percentage van gerecycleerde PET te kiezen. Hoe hoger het RPET percentage, hoe meer onregelmatigheden (spikkeltjes, kleurverschil, etc.) in de fles.

Reconditioned packaging

Metal bondel– en lid for barrels, plastic barrels of IBCs worden chemisch gereinigd met een zeepoplossing nadien zijn er ook nog testen op lekdichtheid. Deze verpakkingen hebben dezelfde eigenschappen als de nieuwe varianten, maar het is niet meer mogelijk om deze te gebruiken voor levensmiddelen.
